Baja Jack’s Brings Baja-Style Fresh Food to Tulsa
An impromptu #SMTulsa meetup happened tonight as several Social Media Tulsa Denizens attended a special “Foodie Night” at the all new Baja Jack’s
Baja Jack’s is a fast-casual restaurant that serves Baja California/Southern California style Mexican food, which is a different take than the Tex-Mex we usually see here in Tulsa. Baja-style is based on fresh ingredients and marinated meats in place of heavy sauces and ground beef. It is heavily influenced by the produce, meats and seafood available in Baja California.
Owner, “Baja Jack” Coleman led us through a culinary tour of the Baja region.
First, and invitation to the the awesome Salsa Bar. 7 different salsas, and according to the tips on Foursquare, I had to try the mango salsa. (It was fantastic)
Then, Baja Jack’s Shrimp Ceviche
There was some controversy when Tulsa Food Guy didn’t get to taste the Fish Taco, but all was restored when the BYOB tickets came out.
BYOB! No, not bring in your own beer kind. This, BYOB means Build-Your-Own-Burrito. This is their signature item that let’s you build your burrito exactly how you like it: add what you love, leave off what you hate, experiment with flavor combinations, and find the perfect burrito! You can Build-Your-Own -Taco Salad, -Nachos, -Tacos or even a -Baja Bowl which is a lettuce wrap for all of your ingredients… and they have so many, many ingredients to choose from. My Doc has me on a pretty strict diet (Gluten & Dairy Free) I had the grilled white fish, black beans, cabbage, and other veggies that made the best BYOB I’ve ever had.
The success of the first location in Owasso has allowed Baja Jack to expand to their new Tulsa location at 96th and Riverside.
As consumers using Social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Foursquare, we can support local business owners and restaurants like Baja Fresh when we let our friends and followers know what we “like.”
Here are just a few of the photos I took during the event. (You’ll see them on Foursquare when you check in)

The next time you visit Baja Jacks Make sure you send them a Tweet @BajaJacks , Check in on Foursquare, and or share photos on Facebook or Instagram of you and your friends and family enjoying their food. Tell them #SMTulsa sent you.
